History

Monaspa (მონასპა) was the name of the royal guard of the medieval Georgian kingdom, formed, according to the chronicles, under King David IV the Builder in the early 12th century. In this game the name stands for the camps where the lord's spearmen train.

The spear was the cheapest and most common weapon of village levies. Set against riders, a line of spear points keeps horses at bay, which is why spearmen here hit horsemen twice as hard.
