The story

Hereti, eastern Kakheti, 18th century.

Raiders come from the mountains, the east and the south.

Hold the Sasakhle and the Eklesia. If either falls, the raid succeeds.

Hereti was one of the old lands of eastern Georgia. Its villages, and the churches at their hearts, stood on the road of every raid from the east.
