Malachi Kokhta-beladi

War-chief

A war-chief famous across Dagestan. He brings rock down on your Koshki and calls his bands from the passes; badly hurt, he plants his war banner, and raiders round it strike harder and march faster until it is cut down.

History

Georgian documents name Malachi Kokhta-beladi among the Dagestani war-chiefs whose raids King Erekle II beat back in the 1750s. Beladi was the Georgian word for the chief of a Dagestani community.

In 1770 the Ottomans hired Dagestani bands against Kartli-Kakheti, and Malachi Kokhta-beladi, "famous throughout all Dagestan", came to Akhaltsikhe with men of Kazikumukh. Most of those chiefs fell at the battle of Aspindza that year.

No source records him in Khevsureti: his raid here, his avalanches and his banner are game choices.
