Ertso-Tianeti
The Villages on the Upper Iori
In 1648 Bidzina Cholokashvili held the line at Ertso: "if they take Ertso, we cannot hold Tianeti". The Pshavs, the chronicles say, served whoever held Tianeti.

The story
Ertso-Tianeti, on the upper Iori, 18th century.
The Leks come over the Kakheti ridge for people, to sell at the market of Akhaltsikhe.
Hold Tianeti for ten nights, and bring back everyone they take.
Emptied by Shah Abbas in 1614, the valley was settled again by highlanders from Pshavi and Khevsureti, which is why one of its villages is still called Khevsurtsopeli, the Khevsur village.
